Orinoco Dec Blog 2014 Take One “What happens when something actually happens?”
Hello.
I hope you are feeling on top of the world in this month of December 2014.
The month that the big, fat man is coming with all his presents and his jolly cheer. Speaking of presents have I got one for you, well actually I don’t mean in a physical sense but it is still really exciting.
ARE YOU READY
You get TWO blogs this month.
I KNOW RIGHT, you have to hold yourself down with excitement.
“Nurse bring me the valium these readers need to be calmed!”
The reason for the two blogs is because I was watching some program about the 5:2 diet. I than realised that they were talking about my blogs because I send out my monthly blogs twice in a row and then don’t send anything out for 5 months. It is a perfect diet I love it.
Truthfully though the real reason for the two blogs is because I am splitting up the news. The first blog which is this one, as you can tell because it says 1st edition up the top, is about the recording of the album. The 2nd one will be about the film clip.
YES I KNOW AGAIN, who would have thought there were two things happening all in the one month.
Anyway, let us start with the recording.
IT IS DONE, that’s right folks, there is no more laying down the parts because they have been completed. Let’s dance a small little jig in celebration, but don’t ask me because I can’t dance.
The final note was struck at about 4pm on 21st Nov 2014 (admit tingly probably an off note as I doing vocals and it was a solid two hours so it may have been a bit dodgy). Anyway what song was it, hmm can’t remember sorry, details are not my strong point.
Jerry is now mixing and mastering from his home that he has sold. He is the reason why the recording is actually finished. Jerry began having itchy feet and he wanted to go travelling. In fact Billy Joel wrote a song about this move about 30 years ago.
“Sold his house, closed his shop, bought a ticket to the west coast,” Actually he sold his house, has a shop that he is taking with him, (he is working remotely) and he is going to Europe which is defiantly not west of Perth.”
Sorry Billy you were so close.
There is only one song left to mix which is Simple Life. All the rest are in the bag, which only took, 3 1/2years, two members pulling out, two kids, six changes of employer and that isn’t counting Beau’s occupational moves.
So what happens now is song line up, c.d. cover, and a whole lotta luck for it to sell. But if you have nothing you ain’t got nothing, which means I would need a miracle, if it wasn’t done at all.
Anyway, by January all the songs will defiantly be done and another journey may begin.
For the all the people who have helped along the way in small and large parts thank you very much. Also to Jerry Freedman for his patience and his skill which he is still applying in the mixing.
Also to Jeremy Wilkinson who if not for him there would be nothing to show because there would have been no band to start with. The other guy is Troy Reany without him some songs would have never seen the light of day. Below are the songs going on the album who wrote them and what instruments were played.
A special thanks to my wife Jordie, and who let me finish the project and contribute to Jerry’s trip and my kids who sing along to the songs in car actually song only Out to Play is the only one they want.
