“ALL THIS NEGATIVITY JUST MAKES MORE DETERMINED TO SUCCEED “
“Hey you” or is it “A U”, let me think about it, yes okay that’s right it is “A U”. The first time I have decided to send off my blog to the outside world and what did I do give the wrong web address out, good one dumb, dumb.
So before I start my monthly babble I have to thank three people. Carla K (Our American Fan) I suppose that means we have already broken into the Holy Grail market. Kieren R (she thinks that classical music doesn’t have the same notes as rock music). These girls pointed out the fact I sent out the wrong website address.
Oh I said three people didn’t I. Okay I also like to thank Emma F who told me to write in my next blog that she is pretty, young, smart and talented. The only problem however is she is a Gemini so she actually has an evil twin named Amme (Amy) who is quite happy to take your eye out with an empty tissue box, if you cross her.
Anyway thanks girls mistake well noted. Speaking of girls I suppose I better say hello to Celeste, Jody, Kiwi Maz, and Trish my little spy in Melbourne Victoria. And to our only male Fan Chris Keogh who turned up to pre recording of Redland last weekend on the Sunday 18th. He happily jumped on the bass so we could hear what the four instruments sounded like.
Speaking of plugs in the last few months I have been also been helped by Bourby Webster from North Street Music. Even though since I have seen her, the band has been halved and still hasn’t actually got a single out, however the advice that she gave me has been priceless. So if there are any musicians out there who want to know what she told me, well I am not going to tell you. Pay your own money because that is her business and you get what you pay for, which is fantastic help.
Okay I suppose I had better write something about music and where we are at. On Tuesday 6th September was rehearsal night with Beau, myself and producer and quasi bass player Jerry. It was time to sort the song out named “Redland”. It is pretty much a quick fire punk song that needed a bit of work. Even in its infancy this song was hard work even though it had the usual easy Orinoco riff attached to it.
The song was written nearly exactly three years ago, because it was performed two days after my daughter’s Tayla’s birth at the Norfolk Basement in Fremantle, with only about a week rehearsal. So it was time to fix it up a bit and look to recording it.
So after we set up all the instruments Jerry gave Beau and I an empty look and said well I don’t have any ideas, I gave him a look of well that’s the last time I will talking you up on the website. I had an inkling he kind of had something up his sleeve and we haphazardly dragged ourselves through different ideas and tired yawns. Basically it was the opposite of “Soul Breath” this song moved like a home trained dentist extracting teeth with blunt razor blades.
However two hours later we had packed up with a new structure and some kind of way forward, but it wasn’t exactly brimming with positivity but there was enough to get excited about it. We decided to meet again in Jerry’s studio on a Sunday which as I said before let us use the talents of Chris Keogh to play bass. Another two hours later we had put the song to bed for recording which is happening on the 25 the September.
Speaking of recording “Soul Breath” wasn’t actually getting mastered because I assumed it was but Jerry was actually waiting for us to confirm it was okay to go. So we have now started the mastering process, and I have learnt something about assumptions and we all know what Monty Python say about it.
“It isn’t the messiah just a very naughty word.”
Any until next
Stay Safe.
P.S…Relay for Life is coming up in the next month, so if you see anyone selling chocolates or asking to buy a raffle please do what you can do in this very tight economic environment. Relay for Life is a cancer fund raiser that we like to support. There is a web link on our page.
Okay see ya later.
