Orinoco Nov Blog 2014 “The thought of regret always outweighs the humbling feeling of failure”
Why, hello.
Time has slipped away from me again, as it always does. Sometimes it feels like I am chasing a piece of paper in the wind, and it stops for a moment and as you bend down to pick it up, the paper laughs and flys off again. When you look up to see it in the air suddenly three months have gone by hmm make that nearly four months.
So what’s been happening, well actually there has been quite bit going on, (yes I know it has surprised the crap out of me as well).
The first thing I have to mention though is the people who have listened to our music via Radio Airplay, but in particular the ones who has pressed the button that says they are a fan. Now I know that we are probably drawing a long bow on this but really we will take whatever comes our way. So if I get an email saying someone has listened to a certain song and has become a fan we are going to go, nice one.
I am not going to mention them by name this time because after giving it some thought I felt it to be a little bit intruding on the listener. We would still like to say thanks though and for the Jango listeners out there, you know who you are.
I have also said in the last post that we are looking at finishing off the LP and we may be going to do a film clip. Well strike me down with a Ben Franklin lighting bolt this is actually happening, that is now 2 nil in surprising myself twice in one blog.
Beau and I have put the final guitar and drum tacks down and I just need to finish off the vocals on November 21 2014 (I thought I better put the year in just in case).
The mixing will take a little bit longer mainly because it is very time consuming and costly. Also Jerry is flying back to Mother England for a while just to remind himself that weather is better in Perth but the pints of beer are cheaper in Britain. I have to thank Jerry for actually taking the trip because there has been a rush to get our butt into gear to actually finish off the instrument and vocal side.
The other thing is the film clip which we have already started. The background is that we have been wanting to do a clip for a long time but no one really wanted to film so we just sat around waiting for the right opportunity and low and behold it came around.
How it started was that I go to a script writing group because I wrote a dark comedy from one of my song topics.
Now if your a struggling musician and you think the music industry is hard, pfff you should try script writing.
The people in the group have some brilliant ideas but to try and get it off the ground is very, very tough. At least music has Pro Tools and Garage Band, and various avenues to get your music heard. To get a movie or TV show produced well, you need a small army, and that is just to hand you tissues to dry your tears when you get your knock backs.
So anyway I met Sean Hellend who owns a little business called Black Cut Films at this script writing course and he was very willing to do the clip, which was lucky because we were willing to do a music clip. So last month we finished the band shot and next we are going to a factory shoot in December with a couple of people who we are lucky enough to get to be extras. So by next blog which I hope will be done next month we will have the new clip for you to watch.
That’s about it from me.
Stay Safe
Bye
